You can snorkel around the St. Andrews State Park Jetty and on Shell Island. The habitats vary from sandy bottom to shallow grass flats to the rocky faces in the jetties. You will see tropical fish, crabs and rays. If you're lucky, a turtle or one of the resident bottlenose Dolphins. St Andrews is one of our favorite state parks. I hope you enjoy! over a year ago. Yes you can kayak from the park to Shell Island however it is a little bit of distance and across a boating channel.
Mochras (commonly known as Shell Island), is a peninsula lying west of Llanbedr in Gwynedd, Wales. It was formed after the River Artro was diverted by the Earl of Winchelsey in 1819 from its previous course where it entered the sea to the south of Mochras.
Shell Island is an undeveloped barrier island between St. Andrew Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. The area stretching out for 7 miles with no hotels, no restaurants, no food stalls, no trash cans, no picnic tables, no buildings. It's natural beauty for as far as you can see.
Once you get there it is all worth it, as it is the most beautiful water I've ever seen. It is like you are swimming in a pool it is so crystal clear. We didn't know what to expect with this so we went planning to spend a few hours on the island. Come expecting to spend all day!
