I love this shop, my boat crew and my dives! They have been a part of our lives for several years. We have had great experiences and great dives every time. You can rent or purchase a lot of gear. Everyone is happy and eager for help!
Seas around Panama City Beach depend more on the wave interval than the absolute size. Long interval waves create rollers, while short interval waves make the boat rock up and down and divers are hard to spot in the water.
Mexico Beach Artificial Reef Association, Florida Wildlife Commission and others compiled a report to assess the impacts on the coral reefs. They discovered that the Varmar reef (not shown in our dive map, as it is off Mexico Beach), suffered the greatest impact because it was only 25' deep. However, artificial reefs in medium and deep water remained intact. Below is a graph from that report showing how Hurricane Michael passed through Panama City Beach's reefs and wrecks.
Apart from diving, Panama City Beach boasts white sand beaches, outstanding seafood, and the largest population of bottlenose dolphins in the world. It’s a beautiful destination for a weekend drive or a week-long trip. Below is our dive map for Panama City Beach. The individual pins contain more information about the dive sites. Although we strive for accuracy, this map is for information purposes only and not intended for navigation.
The visibility is between 30'-50ft. Water temperatures range from 60s to 80s in summer and winter. It is a good idea to bring gloves for the sharp edges of the wrecks as well as a diving knife to cut through fishing line.
This is a good place to start diving. Their staff is helpful and knowledgeable. For both newbies and veterans, these classes are great.
From TDI, we teach technical scuba classes. Technical divers go beyond recreational diving. These divers can dive deeper, farther, higher, and more overhead, and may use more complex gas mixtures to meet narcosis or decompression requirements. You are a skilled diver who wants to explore the depths of the pool. This is the way to get there. We offer Intro to Tech, Advanced Nitrox, Deco Procedures and Trimix. Advanced Trimix is also available. We can provide a fun class with an expert instructor in the field, using only the best gear at fully inclusive prices.
Never hold your breath
As every good entry-level dive student knows, this is the most important rule of scuba. And for good reason — breath holding underwater can result in serious injury and even death. In accordance with Boyle's law, the air in a diver's lungs expands during ascent and contracts during descent.
As you become a qualified scuba diver, you learn the basics of an essential scuba system. A cylinder, weights, an exposure suit, regulators, BCD gauge and timing device, mask and fins are the bare essentials.
