Are you confused by flat parts? For centrifugal barrel finishing, flat parts like washers are a challenge. Because the parts stick to the barrel's side, they can wick together and stick to it. Only one side is deburred. Glass bead blasting media can be added to the centrifugal barrel finish process. The beads cover the parts and make them unable to stick to each other or the barrel. For parts that are prone to cup together, glass beads work well.
Flat parts make you feel lost? Flat parts, like washers, pose one of the most difficult challenges in centrifugal-barrel finishing. Parts tend to stick to the barrel and wick together so that only one side can be deburred. To solve this problem, you can add glass bead blasting medium to the centrifugal drum finishing process. The beads protect the parts from sticking to each another and to the barrel. Glass beads can be used for parts that have a tendency to cup together.
One manufacturer of medical devices faced two challenges when it came to designing a citric solution for passivation. This prevented them from using a fully automated passivation process. To ensure quality control, the system must have data tracking. Semi-Automated [...]
Our machines have a longer life expectancy, lower costs, and require less maintenance for finishing or deburring.
No matter how many steps you have, each step must be done separately. You cannot do polishing and deburring at the same time. Deburr first and then polish. If more than one step must be done, each step should be completed in ascending order of smoothness. Deburring first, then polishing last.
A centrifugal barrel parts tumbler can eliminate 95% of the handwork involved in deburring or polishing parts by hand. This reduction of hand sorting dramatically increases production and return on investment. Using a centrifugal barrel finisher reduces the waste and expense of having to use a microscope to identify defects and remove burrs on each part to meet a customers requirement for metal smoothness.
The centrifugal barrel tumble machines are particularly well-suited for removing large burrs and blending lines that can be caused by machining. These machines are also excellent for polishing and burnishing. Centrifugal barrel machines can be used with various kinds of ceramic or organic media (e.g. corn-cob), and can achieve almost any surface finish, from super-fine polishing to burr removal.
As a rule, media that is darker cuts faster. If plastic media is very dark it's more likely that it will be quickly cut using a more aggressive abrasive. Mild cutting is possible with mildly-abrasive mass finishing in lighter media.
Gulf States Saw & Machinery Co., Inc. is known for its bookletmakers and finishing systems that are quick and versatile. The Sprint series models have a strong reputation for reliability and performance in the printing finishing industry. The SF2 bookletmaker uses wire-fed stitching technology that was previously only available in larger systems, which can run up to three times as much.
Contact us today for more information on dry metal machines that can benefit your application.
These industry-proven finishing systems can be used with many types metals such as brass, aluminum, stainless steel and chrome. Because plastic is too soft for this process, this type of system will not deburr parts made of plastic.
Whether your application requires compact systems to complete smaller deburring projects or larger, heavy-duty models to complete several shifts and facilitate large-scale production, well help you locate the right machine for nearly any metalworking process.
Our dry-metal machines are available to industries in metalworking, woodworking and plastics. It allows for more uniform and effective finishing processes. To help our customers achieve the best finish, we distribute our products across North America.
