The maximum height (or thickness) that can be cut with a resaw is called the resaw capacity. If you are a small furniture maker, 14 inches is the minimum size for a bandsaw. 16 inches is more ideal. For larger jobs, you might need a machine that is 18'' or 20". For versatility, make sure to have a minimum height for resaws of 12''.

A general rule of thumb for wood and other soft materials is to have 3 - 6 teeth in your workpiece. You should aim for 6 to 24 teeth in your workpiece for metals and other harder materials.
