What is the difference between a Fretsaw and a coping saw

Portable Beam Coping Machine

Voortman's beam coping machine has extended, rigid and durable torch tips which allow precise positioning within flanges. A closed loop system permits the torchhead to be released in the event of contact with an unexpected obstruction like slag.

The basic unit is a semi-automatic, oxy-fuel coping machine. The operator positions the workpiece, finetunes it, starts the cut and adjusts the torch height while cutting. (There is an automated option for a laser to auto probe and set the torch height.) The basic unit comes with powered conveyors where the operator manually measures and marks the X length on the feed stock prior to cutting. (There is also an optional automated measuring system via Laser measuring of the feed stock.) The interface allows the operator to input material type to be cut. The operator scrolls through a list of options via pictorial representations on the computer touch screen. The computer is programmed with all the AISC structural steel dimensions. A fully dimensioned cope drawing is displayed simplifying programing, saving time and minimizing operator input error. The operator can override and customize the input as needed, and it can be stored as a new program, if desired. The machine can also be pre-programmed from the office through DSTV exported drawings. There is a wireless remote control that the operator uses to start, stop and operate the equipment. This allows the Operator to freely walk around viewing from any angle needed to verify operations and maintain accuracy. The operator makes his mark on the material, moves the material into position, and hydraulically clamps the material to be cut into place. The operator lines the laser to the mark and begins the cycle. The torch ignites, pre-heating the material. The operator manually initiates the cutting process and finishes the cut as he maintains the proper torch height.

A factory trained service technician will spend around 5 days on-site installing your machine and calibrating it. This will give you hands-on training, troubleshooting, and diagnostics.

The single torch CNC beam coper eliminates the need to manually lay out your copes. It does this by transferring your CNC detail drawings directly from the CNC.

Voortman beam-coping machine comes equipped with long, durable, rigid torch tips that can be used to precisely position the machine within flanges. Additionally, the closed loop system allows for the torchhead's disengagement in the unlikely event that it comes into contact with an obstruction such as slag.

AutoCAD can be used to export flat 2-D pieces to plate-processing machines. It is not able to export files for 3-D shapes such as angles, beams, channels, etc. AutoCAD can export both DWG and DXF files, which is perfect for plates.

Voortman Technical Support Office is available round the clock and always happy to answer questions, regardless of how simple or difficult.

Voortman can make the steel beams’ copes cut faster than your layoutman. Voortman CNC Angle Line and Gulf States Saw & Machine Co. CNC Angle Line both brought automation of beams and angles at an affordable price to small-to–medium fabricators. Voortman does the same.

This safety feature ensures long head and tip life, as well as greatly increasing the time it takes to prevent costly torch tip repairs and changeovers.

Software falling under this category includes X-Steel (SDS/2), Tekla Structures (StruCAD), DetailCAD and SteelCAD. All 3-D modeling software exports the DSTV file which is then seamlessly imported into Voortman.

Voortman beam copier machine is equipped to position the torch head precisely within flanges. In the event that the torchhead comes in contact with an unanticipated obstruction, such slag buildup, the closed loop allows it to separate.

A CNC beam coping tool is safer than a handheld torch. The machine can also be controlled remotely from the operator. This allows him to stay further away than the flame.

Frequently Asked Questions

A beam made from a stiffer, stronger material will produce a beam that's stronger and more rigid. The material property that is measured in terms of stiffness is known as "Youngs Modulus Elasticity".

Units will adhere better if they are pre-wetted and mixed with a slightly wetter mortar. Step 4: The coping should be approximately 2 inches (50mm) high and slope at a slope of 2% from the pool.

The blade is very thin so it works well with the pull. The steel frame's spring tension keeps the blade in place. This rigidity allows for the blade to move on both the upward and downward strokes, but it is only when the blade actually cuts that the blade cuts.

Notching or coping is the act of joining two pieces of tubing together. This is a function of angles determined by the location of the tube.

Commonly, a coping saw can be used to cut appropriate designs for joining two surfaces. This tiny hand tool can make precise cuts to create inside joints that are professional-quality.
