Why LD is used in beam
The CNC Beam Drill Line can either be programmed at the machine by hand or via the Peddimat software. The AVENGER includes this software and it can be installed on as many computers in your office as you wish. This unlimited license comes with your machine purchase. This software is identical to the one found on the machine and can be installed on any Voortman CNC fabricating machines.
Programming of the CNC Beam Drill Line is very simple even when done manually. The machine programming software is Peddimat and most operators can learn how to program most parts in less than an hour. Of course practice makes perfect. However the best way to program the machine is to import parts directly from a CAD drawing preferably done in some 3-D modeling software such as Tekla Structures, SDS/2, ProSteel 3D, StruMis etc. These files import directly into the machine and the operator merely selects the part to be processed and hits the Cycle Start button.

CNC Beam Drill Line supports DXF files import and can be used to create 3-D models as long as the steel details are followed precisely. Some of these rules may be different from the one you are using at the moment, and may require some adjustment. This is not as easy as using 3-D modeling software.

Importing files directly from steel detailing software is preferable. This eliminates the need for additional steps and eliminates any potential errors in data capture. In this regard, there are two distinct groups:

It is considered a girder if it is the main structural support made up of smaller beams. The Code does not specify the dimensions that will distinguish a beam and girder.
A box (or square shell) is the best shape in 2D for both directions. However, a cylindrical shell, or tube, is more efficient for bending in any direction. The I, or wide flange beam, is better for unidirectional bending.
